No Sales Cap for Unlicensed Plants Completing 10 Years in 2026: Full Surplus Electricity Can Be Sold!
Under EMRA's decision of 18 June 2026, unlicensed generation plants that completed the 10-year YEKDEM support period will face no limit on surplus energy sales in 2026.
In the Official Gazette published on 20 June 2026, the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) announced that under Decision No. 14671 dated 18 June 2026, no limit will be imposed on surplus energy sales in 2026 for unlicensed electricity generation plants that have completed the 10-year support period under the Renewable Energy Support Mechanism (YEKDEM).
For unlicensed generation plants where production and consumption points are at different locations and that have completed the 10-year YEKDEM support period, no cap will apply to surplus electricity sales in 2026. Producers will continue to sell all of their surplus energy.
It will be recalled that EMRA's decision of 12 June 2026 provided that the surplus sales volume for these plants would be determined by the Authority. The new decision clarifies that this sales limit will not apply for 2026.
